AI Hackathon at EG - New ideas for construction software

What happens when you gather 100 innovative minds to improve construction software with AI? The result is an impressive number of great suggestions for development.

How can AI make life easier for our customers in the construction industry who use EG's software?
That was the question when EG gathered 100 industry specialists and developers for a new way to generate ideas.

A one-day AI Hackathon resulted in a wealth of usable ideas and suggestions for how AI can improve our software and make a significant difference for users.

"A fun and different way to work! Taking a day out for a Hackathon has allowed us to delve deeper into some of the AI ideas that aren't on the current roadmap," says Carina Viksø Nielsen, Team Manager and participant in EG's AI Hackathon

International teams

12 teams with EG product specialists and developers from the Nordics, Poland, and India worked online and presented their proposals after a day of intensive brainstorming and idea development.

Usable Ideas for Project Web

AI plays an increasingly important role in the construction industry. Therefore, EG organized an AI hackathon that provides valuable input for further developing EG's software with AI, benefiting customers.

Particularly impressive were the suggestions for AI in EG's project tools and calculation software:
For example, a solution capable of automatically finding quantities from construction drawings and pricing the construction. Another proposal is a language model for EG Ajour, which will allow customers to speak their wishes to the program instead of clicking on menus.

A team working with AI, sustainability, and BIM also demonstrated how AI can be trained to learn from thousands of construction projects and automatically recognize materials – calculating both the price and the materials' CO2 impact.

Becoming Part of AI development at EG

The goal of the AI Hackathon is to leverage the best ideas from experts who know the customers' daily lives in construction and can therefore provide valuable input for AI development in solutions that customers use today.

All ideas and proposals are now being collected and incorporated into the further development of smart AI usage in EG's construction industry software.
